Once I had opened a book and read its pages, those characters could never be taken away from me. Even if the books were burned, they would still live on in my mind.

About This Quote

When I was young, I loved to read. Not only were the stories beautiful, but the images of people seemed real to me. I remember one time, when I was about eight or nine, I found a book of fairy tales in my mother's room. The cover depicted a lovely castle where fairies danced in the moonlight.

I spent hours reading this book. Although I could not remember much about it after I had put it down, I still dreamed about the stories that it contained. That is what books are for; they are for carrying that which you love into your heart and keeping it there forever.
